About the Ottawa Senators

The modern Ottawa Senators began play in 1992-93 as the second major professional hockey franchise to use the Senators name in Canada's capital. The original Senators won four Stanley Cups in the NHL, in 1920, 1921, 1923 and 1927, before leaving the league in 1934.

The current Senators reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2007, losing to the Anaheim Ducks in five games. Daniel Alfredsson, Chris Phillips, Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson are among the best players in franchise history.

Ottawa returned to the playoffs in 2025 for the first time since 2017 and lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games. In 2026, the Senators were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round.

The Senators play at Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, which opened in 1996 as the Palladium and took its current name in 2013.
